I’ve never been a New Years Resolution kind of a girl. It’s really just another day like every other day. I would become conscious around December 30th. It would come & I’d be like, what the f#*k did I do this year? This isn’t where I wanted to be. What’s wrong with me. I’m never going to get what I want. What is it that I want anyways? (Does this dialogue play in your mind?)
What are the questions your mind asks you every year?
I don’t remember how I heard of Vision boards. I was coming out a dark time in my life. I had been depressed for a few years and was beginning to find hope for a new life. Once I understood what vision boards were, I was all over them. I wanted to create a vision for my life. I wanted something to look at that would get me excited about life again.
In 2005 I lost 100lbs. As a reward to myself, I got a Tree of Life tattooed onto my lower back. It represented the foundation I had created for my new life as healthy slim Beth. I was on top of the world. Little did I know that my world was going to come crashing in on me. I lost my foundation, I lost what I thought was everything. I had built my life on a foundation that was a lie. I wasn’t size 6 pants, I wasn’t my company. If you’d like to read more about my story, please follow here. [Beth’s story]
As I’m writing this blog, I have that Vision board in front of me. Can you see the tree that’s at the base of the board? I’m just realizing right now that I longed for a new foundation for my life. The ribbons, which represent branches to me, reached out growing everything I desired for my life. I can connect to each element as deeply today as when I cut it out. The difference today, is my Vision Board isn’t a dream. It’s a real living thing. I have realized everything on that board.
I’m so grateful for having found a way to begin each year with a way that stays alive, not just for the year, but for my life. I look at my board every day. It inspires me; it reminds me of why I’m choosing to do what I do. It allows me to connect to being grateful for all my blessings and for what I’m creating.
Is there something you’re longing for in your life?
One of the collages on my current vision board is a grouping of women with the word BODACIOUS over top. I’ve been fortunate to be part of a few groups of women; group therapy, a drumming group, a group with Life Coaches, Quilty sisters, and, and… Groups give me the gift of belonging, of being connected with others that can relate to me and me to them. And fun & play!
I’m so excited to be leading 3 Vision Board Workshops in the Halifax area in January 2017. Yes, 3! I believe in their magic so much that I want to share this experience with as many women as I can.
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience everything that’s possible for you in your life. Give yourself the gift of joining like-minded women for a day of dreaming and finding out how to attract what you really want in your life.
Don’t live in Nova Scotia? I’ve got you covered. Let me know if you would like to create a Vision Board on your own or with a group of friends! We can do this virtually.
I can’t wait to meet you!
