(Woohoo!! I finished my improv Bodacious quilted wall hanging! It lives above my bed & weaves into my dreams at night.)
I don’t do resolutions at New Year’s.
Well, I used to, and what happened every year except once, was failure within days. So, why torture myself with a long list of everything I felt I needed to do in order to make my life better?
This year I decided to pick a word of the year. I used Christine Kane’s tool: christinekane.com/wordoftheyear
I was quite skeptical when I looked over her downloadable process. This isn’t going to work for me, I thought. So, in Beth’s style, I laid the pages aside for a few days. I decided to try it with a different attitude; curiosity. (See how often I use curiosity?) It’s such a great way to look at so much in life, at least it has been for me.
Ok, back to the story. I guess you might have figured out that BODACIOUS is my word for 2016. When I looked up the meaning on the Internet, the New Urban Dictionary defined it as “Bravery in Action.” Ie: Joan of Arc. Whoa!!!!! I had an illustration of Joan of Arc tattooed on my left shoulder at a time in my life when I was looking for her strength. Co-incidence
Now, flash back to 2003, my 40th birthday. That was my first introduction to BODACIOUS. I was given a fridge magnet. It had a big impact on me, I didn’t know it then, but I remember thinking I’d like to be BODACIOUS!
Take a moment to reflect on something that impacted your life. Can you make any connections to that moment/gift/whatever; that today are part of your fabric of being?
I was curious to see if women wanted more Bravery in Action in their lives. So, I started a Meetup Group Bodacious Living:
My goal was to gather 10 women once a month for conversations & action of some sort. Membership is at 79 BODACIOUS Ladies. How Cool is that!!!!
We had our first gathering at the Halifax Public Gardens. You’ll have to join us at a future event to get the scoop of what went down!
I was struck by the response. Being a Life Coach, I wanted to learn more about what women were looking for. What do I need to know so I can serve & grow this?
I asked women “What does being Bodacious mean to you?”
Here are some responses:
Free & beautiful: Embracing life, pushing limits, stepping out of comfort zone: Building strength & courage: Big & Bold: Being Fabulous: Awesome, speaks honestly: Acceptance of yourself, confidence: Living your life intentionally.
Please, Read them again!
Can you imagine what your life would feel like if you knew acceptance of yourself or experienced freedom?
What I love; is meeting women that want the same things I’ve always dreamed of. I’m so inspired to create opportunities that will bring these to life.
I hope you’ll join the movement! We’re just getting started.

And, if you don’t live in Halifax & want to claim your BODACIOUS self, please join the Facebook group!
Together, lets grow a world where women love & accept themselves for who they are!
More to come!
